After a voluntary retirement in 2014, Dr. Jasvant Modi dedicated all his time to charitable activities and philanthropy. When he started the Vardhamana Charitable Foundation, other social work involvements kept him busy as he always preferred. 

He has also been associated with other charitable trusts like Akshaya Patra and Pratham, SAHARA, Indians for Collective Action, Sankara Eye Foundation, Jaipur Foot, Leela Art Institute, LIFE Charity, International School for Jain, etc. 

He was elected the LA Chapter Chairman for Akshaya Patra in the year 2018–2019.

Dr. Jasvant Modi had always received help – moral, ethical and financial – from family, friends, professors and organizations for his education and that made him realize the value of supporting people in need to bring the best out of them. He started extending a helping hand to the needy while he started his private practice in the USA.

His wife, Dr. Meera Modi, a physician who has a private practice, has been his prime motivator behind every effort he makes for society. She stands tall and proud as a mother of two, a dedicated medical practitioner and a philanthropist.

Beginning to help people with their health issues in 1984, the couple has eventually realized it is Jainism and its age-old belief system (prophesying peace, non-violence, veganism, truth, non-possession, chastity, non-stealing) that can instill the much needed social change at its core. The two have dedicated themselves to spread awareness about Jainism and Vedic ideology through education in India and the USA.

The Modis have also helped in fundraisers for the people in need around the globe. Additionally, Dr. Jasvant Modi regularly helps in his friends’ free health clinics and during health fairs. They also regularly participated in and funded medical camps at the Jain Center of Southern California (JCSC). He has been awarded by the Temple Community Hospital for his commitment toward medicine and his patients and charitable healthcare.

Dr. Jasvant Modi has also volunteered in medical missionary camps in India.
