JAINA Convention
20th JAINA Convention, Los Angeles, 2019
Jain centers across the USA and Canada have been organizing a convention biennially since the organization’s inception.
During Dr. Modi’s presidency of the Jain Center of Southern California (JCSC) in 2018-2019, they successfully organized the 20th JAINA Convention in Los Angeles. The convention was held from 4 to 7 July 2019, it’s theme was transposed to be, “Jain Religion in the 21st Century.”
A lot of work went into making the convention a smashing hit. In July 2018, under Dr. Jasvant Modi’s leadership, he and the JCSC members acquired a piece of land near the temple for its activities. The Modis, along with some of their friends, designed the convention center space and were significantly instrumental in making the convention a success.
The official 2019 report of the JAINA convention read, “It took two years in planning and more than nine months of preparations and dry runs perfecting it. In the end, JAINA, in partnership with the two host Jain centers of Southern California, JCSC and JCLA, delivered an incredibly successful convention. This convention was extraordinary also from its attendee demographics in that it attracted over 600 youths and young adults among the 3,450 attendees.”
